State Positions

Sort the table by hitting the column title.

The Democrat, Republican and spread columns show results of the 2004 presidential election.   The other columns show the situation going into the 2008 election as of February, 2008.

Most states are neither red nor blue.   Consider the situation:

Of the eight states with 100% Democrat house representation, only Massachusetts has two Democrat senators and a Democrat governor.

Of the six states with 100% Republican house representation, only Alaska and Idaho have two Republican senators and a Republican governor.

Indiana appears to be the most purple state. Their house representation is evenly split and they have one senator from each party. The current governor is a Republican but he succeded three Democrats who in turn succeded three Republicans.
